Founder & Director of Creative Development
Keren Rosenbaum
Keren Rosenbaum is a mother, composer, conductor, performer, educator, cross-disciplinary researcher, and group facilitator. She is the creator of The Playground Approach (ALP: Attune Listening Playground).
Her work began in music. Drawing on her synesthetic experience, she developed Reflexive Music and the Reflex Invisible Score to compose relationships among sound, movement, image, and physical action. Exploring the listening these compositions ask for led to Reflexive Listening and, as the practice developed, to Reflexive Communication.
She studied at the Rubin Academy of Music at Tel Aviv University, the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, and Brooklyn College in New York. She founded the REFLEX Ensemble in 1999 and Composing Community in 2013.
Composing Community is the home of The Playground Approach, where she brings composition, listening, and play into artistic and community settings. Her wider practice includes collaborations with educators, therapists, and organizations, alongside sustained work with autistic children and adults, their families, and professional teams. She is Academic Director and Course Facilitator of the international Playground Approach course at the University of Haifa.
With Miriam Ben-Oz, she coauthored Cross-Sensory Expressive Patterns: On the Continuity of Organization Across Its Changing Realizations, published in Human Development in 2026. The paper brings her compositional inquiry into dialogue with developmental theory, asking what can continue as expression changes form.
