DREAM COOK JUMP is an Opera-Game. The Opera-Game is a fresh and exciting format by which to create a contemporary Opera. First commissioned by ExClaM! for Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, the Opera-Game is a composition both orchestrated and improvised, straddling the borders of music concert and theater play while engaging the community at large in an innovative process. The result is a challenging and highly entertaining experimental playground where Theater and Music meet in unexpected ways.
In DREAM COOK JUMP we aimed to “Compose the Community” of 'Overijssel' a province in the Netherlands. Our starting point was a question: can we interact with Overijssel as one neighborhood/one playground? For the last year we have been playing with as many people as wished to play with us. We have gotten to know individuals, community groups, and institutions. This Opera-Game is a celebration of all those who are already playing, and those who we still hope to meet today.
To create the conditions for a limitless playground, we launched www.dreamcookjump.com. This platform supports hundreds of players and holds their creative contributions as they respond to specific requests and challenges. Over the past six months many of you shared your dreams, your foods, and your games with us. What you see tonight is that entire creative collection transposed into an immediate experience. The “immediate” and the “now” is what we celebrate. Another essential question we asked was: “What would make ME feel at home in the Theater?” In level 4, we asked you all the same question. Tonight, with your answer comes the responsibility of returning to the theater and finding your own home inside of it.
DREAM COOK JUMP isn't just a meeting of artists, it is also a meeting point for high and low, for sport and art, for man and woman and machine, for modernistic approaches and contemporary performance making. Our performers follow orders and fulfill tasks, but they are always free to choose the content they're performing. Their investment is our drama. The system we’ve built requires performers to deal with challenging, sometimes impossible tasks, and invites the audience to take a ride with them in this shared roller-coaster. The Opera-Game is composed of various scores consisting of performative tasks and instructions, relayed live to performers through earphone monitors and by other means. The performers use their bodies, their musical instruments (as extensions of their bodies), as well as specially designed musical instruments such as The Drum-Set Operational Tool, to execute these tasks.
The performers are constantly being triggered by different kinds of data, coming from different sources – including a written score they may have onstage, earphones giving them personal (and group) instructions, stage lights, video monitors that provide visual cues, the positioning of other performers in the space, and even the audience's behavior. The Opera-Game was adopted by the three theaters – these theaters took a courageous and explorative journey with us. It has been in moments both glorious and frustrating (the mark of any true creative process) - and we wish to thank and acknowledge this tremendous effort from everyone we met and worked with this year.We’ve all shared this dream, we’ve all worked hard to cook it up, and now we hope the huge jump we take will create a vibrant conversation in the community addressing the sustainability of the idea to make a home of the theaters we love, so that the theater may regain its natural historical function as "the agora“– our true creative marketplace.

"Expanding music beyond sound to image, movement, smell and taste is the most natural way for creating true interdisciplinary performative language, within which the role of music as an art form is established in a new trust" (b.1970 Israel) Keren Rosenbaum is a NY based interdisciplinary composer, performer, improviser and artist, interested in inspiring active listening by composing not only sounds but communities in the style she developed known as Reflexive Music and it’s unique musical notation The Reflex Invisible Score. Rosenbaum graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Den Haag, Holland, (1995). ARIEL EFRAIM ASHBEL - Dramaturg/Co-Director/Conductor
(b.1982) is a theater director from Tel Aviv, Israel. Since 2011 he is based in Berlin, and contributed to various projects in HAU Hebbel am Ufer, ausland, Uferstudios, the Berlin Biennial, the Porn Film Festival, Transmediale and more, as director, dramaturge, performer and thinker. CARLOS CORDEIRO - Interactive Technology/Clarinets/Game Master
From classical to contemporary performance, from traditional to electronica, clarinetist and electronics enthusiast Carlos Cordeiro performs a wide range of repertoire but has a deep commitment to the music of today. Recent projects include a performance of Magnus Lindberg Clarinet Trio "Ljord, stort, ljud" with Magnus Lindberg on piano and cellist Joan Whang in the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, and the participation in the Gaudeamus Festival in Amsterdam. Member of Loadbang and REFLEX Ensemble. Collaborations include NYPhil Outreach Program, Parias Ensemble, Mimesis Ensemble, Mise-en Ensemble, Metropolis Ensemble. Master's Degree in Contemporary Performance from Manhattan School of Music, a Master's Degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University and a Bachelor's Degree from the Escola Superior de Musica e Artes do Espectaculo. A true contralto with a wide vocal range, Noa Frenkel’s concert repertoire ranges from Renaissance to contemporary music. Recent performances include Handel’s Dixit Dominus in Antwerp, Verdi’s Requiem at the Ljubliana Festival and Mahler’s 2nd and Israel. As an admired interpreter of contemporary music, she has performed with ensembles such as Ensemble Modern-Frankfurt, Ensemble Recherche-Freiburg, Schoenberg Ensemble-Amsterdam, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Paris, and Klangforum Wien. Giorgia Ghizzoni (Italian) citizen of the world, developing partner at CC-GO and an ALP Coach since 2013. Giorgia's Graduated LUISS Guido Carli & Utrecht School of Economicsm. Curently finalizing her Masters in Arts Management (Scandinavia's leading music university Sibelius Academy, Helsinki) and a cellist. In 2012 Giorgia co-founded the production and coaching company ExClaM! through which, as Executive Director, she lead the debut of the first Opera Game ever composed by Keren Rosenbaum: the CAFETERIA Opera Game and 2 impressive summer day concert series in Helsinki. An actor/performer from Berlin. As a stage actor, Sebastian worked in some mainstream venues, such as Staatstheater Stuttgart, but he carries out most of his work as a freelance performer in the Freie Szene (free scene) of his home town Berlin. His collaborations in recent years included leading artists and companies, such as performance theater collective And company & Co, Artist Yael Bartana, Hans- Werner Krösinger, Bruno Cathomas, Musician-Director Santiago Blaum, Aktionstheater Ensemble Wien from Vienna, Theater company Lubricat queer performance group Cheap, Filmmakers Christian Frosch and Edwien Brienen, Choreographer Nir de Volff and Art-Pop icon Peaches.
